Wreaths Across America

We have been invited to participate in a National PGR sponsored event...Wreaths Across America (WWA). All events will take place at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 Horseshoe Bend Rd, Boise, Idaho.

Stage 1: Friday, Dec. 14th. At 4:00 PM Boise Civil Air Patrol (BCAP) will conduct a short orientation on proper placement procedures and then volunteers will pre-place 350 wreaths at gravesites.
*** Anyone with a family member interred at the cemetery, who wishes to place a wreath on a specific site can contact Susan Peter, BCAP, at 761-1413 to make arraingments.
There is no other staging for Friday, just show up if you care to help. Snow showers are possible, dress for warmth.

Stage 2: Saturday, Dec. 15th. Memorial ceremony will begin at 10 AM, concurrently with the ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. Plans are to form a joint flagline with members from the Boise Valley POW/MIA Association, to be in place by 9-9:30 AM.
Safety note: Cages (cars, trucks) would be advisable for this mission. Weather predictions are calling for 15% snow showers (20% the night before), temps at ceremony time below freezing, and 5-10 mph breeze. Road conditions will probably be snow or ice. It is of course, your option. Monitor conditions...decide wisely. There will be other times to ride, the important thing here is the mission.
Staging Option 1: You may arrive at the cemetery on your own, if you wish, and join us at the top for the ceremony. Shuttle service will be provided.

Staging Option 2: Park at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 63, 3308 Chinden Blvd, Boise. Arrive prior to shuttle bus departure at approximately 8:15 and we'll ride as a group. Return service after.

Stand down: Everyone is invited to an informal "meet & greet" directly after the ceremony at the VFW post. This is a chance to got to know each other a little bit, not to mention to WARM UP!!!!
Special mention: VFW Post 63 has permitted PGR, thru me as a VFW member, the use of their bus to provide shuttle service for this event. Without this service, few attendees could make the 6/10ths mile uphill climb to the ceremony site! Shane "Desert Doc" Leiser, our PGR ID State Captain, has volunteered to drive. The VFW also donated $100 for gas for the bus! Please, if you see A VFW member at the ceremony or at the "meet & greet"...Thank them.
This mission may be an uncomfortable one, but that is what will make it such an HONOR to share it with you!
